Coffee Insurance

Karnataka Postal Circle has tied up with Agricultural Insurance Company of India Ltd for helping the coffee growers in Hassan, Kodagu and Chickmagalur Districts. In order to provide insurance coverage and financial support to the farmers in the event of failure of any of the Coffee crop as a result of natural calamities, pests and diseases, to encourage the farmers to adopt progressive farming practices, high value in-puts and higher technology in Agriculture and to help stabilize farm incomes, particularly in disaster years, as provided and approved by the Govt. of India.

The Branch Post offices, Sub Post offices and Head Post Offices in the coffee growing areas of Hassan, Kodagu and Chickmagalur totaling to 350 Post Offices are identified for crop insurance to the farmers doing agricultural activities in these Rural areas. Coffee growers can approach the nearest Post Office which will stock the proposal forms and supply on demand to the planters/customers, assist them in filling up the proposal form.

Gramina Suvidha Kendra

Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd, Mumbai in association with Karnataka Postal Circle to set up Gramina Suvidha Kendra (GSK) in providing online information regarding prices of various agricultural commodities in rural area through selected Post Offices of Gadag Dn and Tumkur Dn has started on pilot basis. Farmers in these areas are availing the service.
