SPEED POST PASSPORT SERVICE

Speed post Passport service was introduced by the Department with effect from 5th March 2001. In Karnataka the service commenced on the same day, in Bangalore GPO and Mangalore HO. The service was subsequently extended to other important Post offices. As on date 289 Post offices are providing speed post Passport service in Karnataka.

These Post Offices sell Passport applications at Rs 20/-, filled in applications are accepted at below mentioned Pos. The filled in applications are received and scrutinized by the trained officials at the identified Pos given below. Scrutiny includes checking the details incorporated in the application with reference to the testimonials/documents including DD addressed to the Passport Office. After scrutinizing the correctness of the details furnished in the application, the Post office will impress a stamp” Original seen and verified”. After verification the passport applications are forwarded to the Passport Office by Speed post. A file number and Key number are given to the applicant for knowing the status of application from the Regional Passport Office. Speed post Passport office dispatches Passports, daily to SPCC Bangalore where they are booked and sent to destination. The facility of “ Book Now Pay Later Scheme for Speed Post booking is being availed by Regional Passport Office.
